Im in need of cutting a key slot in a future aluminum gear, however I dont have a true broaching set. Anyone found a way to use a milling machine to do such. I tried to use a boring bar in my mill with a piece of HSS as a bit. I thought if I could slowly work the cutter up and down it would shave off enough to make the key seat.
