I find that using my 3/4 inch dia. boring bar in appropriate micrometer boring head in the mill I get chatter, even on the shallow cuts. I need to hold about .0005 dia. tolerance, sometimes .001, so not too awfully tight. I generally use an insert type bar with a carbide insert with as small a radius as is available (generally 1/32 for my bar).
